Shiloh is a mix breed, or Native Texan. She was born December 11, 2003. Her mother was a stray who ended up in a foster home and then had four puppies. The mother died several days later, leaving the foster mom, Lynne, to bottle feed the pups. Judy lost her first dog, Dreamer, to bladder cancer in late January 2004 and was looking for a puppy. Pictures of ‘Hannah and Hank’ kept coming to her from friends passing on information about puppies needing homes. Finally, at the end of February, Judy contacted Lynne and made a trip down to Texas City to see these pups. All four still needed homes, but Lynne was hooked on the smallest one, Cleo and wanted to keep her. Out of the other three, Judy chose Hannah and took her home.

Hannah remained her name for the first month in her new home. The name just didn’t fit, but Judy couldn’t find the right moniker for the smart little pup. One day, driving home with Hannah in the seat beside her, the Neil Diamond song, ‘Shilo’ came on and Judy turned to Hannah and said ‘What about Shiloh?” The puppy’s head and ears came up and she looked right at Judy as if to say, “That’s my name!”

Shiloh began training from the day she came home with Judy. Her first stop was the vet clinic where Judy works so she could get a bath. The next stop was flyball practice to meet the team. At that time, Judy was a member of Paws of Thunder.

Shiloh’s training progressed well and by the time she was 13 months old, she ran in her first tournament, earning her first title. She also participated in her first freestyle demo at the Reliant Dog Show at 7 months.

Shiloh loves to play flyball and dance and learn new tricks. She hopes that Judy will have time to take her to some agility classes sometime soon.
